First of all we were in Charlotte, NC and our first time away from Savannah, Georgia, where he have held it for the three previous years. We were at the Embassy Suites and it was a beautiful facility. Everything we needed was at our finger tips and the rooms were five star quality, suitable, and comfortable. That put us in the mood for a successful weekend and indeed it was. Our first timers were thrilled with the experience and went away looking forward to the next occasion.
Our founder, O’Violet J. Oree, shared insight on Spiritual Etiquette. Just like we are subject to protocols in life we are likewise expected to have basic understandings about our walk as Christians. We can’t do just about anything and expect to represent the Lord. It would be misrepresenting Him and spiritual maturity brings us to where we are ambassadors in a world who needs to see the light of Christ. We even had a facial when Sabrina Taylor, Mary Kay specialist, shared with us some beauty tips to help us take care of our skin. Our banquet speaker, Evang. Jessie R. Singleton, gave us insight to life behind the pictures in our lives. Pictures tell stories about who we are, what we are going through, and where we are or were at that point in our lives. Sometimes we need to evaluate ourselves and pictures can be a great starting point. Minister Lorrie Lawrence showed us how to free ourselves from spiritual stuff that hinders us from really developing a pure relationship with the Lord. When we are caught up in routines and methods in our walk for God, we miss out on really knowing God. We know the spiritual stuff but miss out on being spiritual. Pastor Marva Green introduced us to all the spiritual gifts. There are categories of gifts and each area has its function. It is much easier to know where your gift lies when you understand the gifts and how they function in the body of Christ. Everyone was able to be a part of all the workshops and we enjoyed it so much that we refused to take a break from any of it. Evang. Jessie R. Singleton was our Saturday night banquet speaker and she painted a picture of our obligations in life using the story of Esther. It was intense and we hung on to every word spoken. We laughed, we smirked, we got serious, and we thought deeply. Even the ladies who served us dinner rejoiced with us. They didn’t want to leave the room because they were having such a good time. Truly it was awesome. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. There seemed to be such a bond with us and the staff there. When we left Charlotte, the moment lingered for quite some time.
